Ordinary-mindedness is the Way

Collated by Paul Quek

Source: The Book of Zen, edited & illustrated by the clever cartoonist Tsai Chih Chung.

This book of cartoons is very, very highly recommended! As the translator, Koh Kok Kiang, explains in the foreword:

"Zen lends itself very well to illustration in cartoon form, for Zen has a natural simplicity and a direct and down-to-earth approach to living that is at once refreshing and illuminating. ...

Hopefully, reading a book of cartoons will give the reader a delightful break from his deep involvement in the thought process -- something which the Zen masters aver is a liability rather than an asset.

I have found the book, and its companion Origins of Zen, also edited & illustrated by Tsai Chih Chung and translated by Koh Kok Kiang, to be, dare I say it, "enlightening"!
